How to use the Alldata Disc Copy Utility

To use the Alldata Disc Copy Utility, you need to have enough space on your hard drive to save the data discs. As of August 2013 (Q313), the total space needed for all 86 data discs is 558 GB. You also need to have the most current version of ALLDATA Repair (DVD) installed before copying the new discs. Follow these steps to use the utility:

  • Close all programs, including ALLDATA Repair.

  • Open the Alldata Disc Copy Utility by clicking Start >> Programs or All Programs >> ALLDATA >> ALLDATA Disc Copy.

  • The DiscCopy - Introduction screen will open. Click Next.

  • The DiscCopy - Step 1 of 6 - Select Data To Copy screen will open. Click Check All. Scroll to the bottom of the list and uncheck the last three boxes: Service Advisor Disc1, Disc 2 and Disc 3. If your computer has more than one DVD drive, make sure the correct drive is showing in the drop-down box. Click Next.

  • The DiscCopy - Step 2 of 6 - Remove Existing Data screen will open. If there were previous discs copied, they would show up here with check boxes. Place a check next to each previous version so that the space is cleared up in your hard drive. Whether you have boxes to check or not, click Next.

  • The DiscCopy - Step 3 of 6 - Select Location Where Data Will Be Copied screen will open. Choose a location on your hard drive where you want to save the data discs. Click Next.

  • The DiscCopy - Step 4 of 6 - Insert Data Discs screen will open. Insert the first data disc into your DVD drive and click Next.

  • The program will start copying the disc to your hard drive. A progress bar will show you how much time is left. When the disc is copied, you will be prompted to insert the next disc. Repeat this process until all discs are copied.

  • The DiscCopy - Step 5 of 6 - Verify Data screen will open. The program will verify that all data discs are copied correctly. A progress bar will show you how much time is left. When the verification is done, click Next.

  • The DiscCopy - Step 6 of 6 - Finish screen will open. Click Finish to exit the program.

You have successfully copied all data discs to your hard drive using the Alldata Disc Copy Utility. You can now access the repair information faster and more conveniently from your computer without inserting any discs.
